Animator: Anthony Lucas The animation technique is a mix of cut out and digital animation.
I placed this animation here because the animation interested me with its new style of the mix cut out and digital work. I loved the darker look and feel of the story. The shapes of the cutouts alone would look like nothing but together in this animation moving and doing what the animator intended them to do made everything look real and alive. There was depth with the objects in the background being smaller and/or grayed out. The voice animation was synced to the moving of the lips for each character and the sound affects for the creatures didn't sound mechanical like the flying ships but like a sound a beast can only make. I can't really find a connection between me and this animation other than that there is always a chance of light in the darkness.
Katanagatari Trailer
Directed by: Keitaro Motonaga
The animation was made digitally.
The reason of why I chose this digital animation because of the beautiful art and how they drew the fight scenes and the art just in general is bright, colorful, and simple. The art movement is fluid from the characters fighting and in the emotion changes in their faces show true understandable emotions. The colors of the characters matched their personalities and the backgrounds were mostly bright colored unless used for shading. The music in this animation was new unlike other animations that usually use classical, instrumental, or pop music. (A little spoiler >>) The one thing I'd have to say that I connect with to this animation is that the main character in this show tried his best to stay calm in any situation but even the strongest have a breaking point.

Claymation
The claymation of this animation would have to be the thing that brought me into liking it and that my uncle is like its number one fan. The colors of this animation were darker because it was supposed to be scary creatures but the personalities didn't live up to that. The shapes of each character were not similar at all; they each had their own unique body form. You can see the different textures in everything but because it is claymation they wanted it to still look like clay. Most of the full length version of this animation was like a musical and just singing song about how they feel or what they are doing. There is really no personal connection between me and the animation other than that most of my family loves it.

Digital Animation
Even though this is an older animation I just recently watched the movie and enjoyed it a lot because it is more realistic and followed an old fairy tail story of red riding hood. The animation style is older Japanese style so the detail is higher and shows more with the color being darker than what is usually seen these days. The shadows were heavily used because most of the animation was at night or underground. The texture of the animation was dirty and rough from most of it being battle worn or covered in muck. The sounds of the guns and explosions sounded like they were from a video game or anything similar and the music matched the sad or fast paced tone of the scenes. The one thing that I can probably connect with this animation is that some times the government is wrong.
T-SHIRT WAR!! (stop-motion) - Rhett & Link
I've seen many stop motions in my life using many different objects like toys, food, everyday objects, but never clothing and that is what interested me most in this stop motion animation. The shapes on the T-shirts were the only thing telling the story in the animation. The movement of the objects was jerky but that is to be more expected from a T-shirt stop motion. The color of the shirt indicated the object that was going to be on the shirt and to let the object stand out the most for the viewers to see. The one thing that I could probably connect out of this would be just messing with friends is always fun and its even more fun when they get you back harmlessly.
Fate/Zero Trailer
Director: Ei Aoki
Digital Animation
This animation was chosen because I remembered on how well drawn out the fight scenes were and how every character had a new different outfit and their own personality. The shading is really well done in this show especially at night or dimly lit areas. The texture of the characters are according to themselves and what situation, and an example is Saber in her knight armor is all clean and smooth but after battle or when damaged that armor looses its luster. When the metal weapons hit another weapon and a piece of metal it sounded like flicking a thin piece of aluminum and hearing that ting which helped the viewers know that the weapons are hitting each other. The one major thing I can connect with this animation is that in it the main character has a weak power but when it is used strategically that weak power can be something that can overcome many obstacles.
